On the iNaturalist website viewed on 25 March 2025, this beetle is named Glenea taeniata. The website includes a total of 4 observations, with 2 from Singapore and 2 from Indonesia. The name used on this page (Glenea algebraica) has no records on the iNaturalist website. On the Biodiversity of Singapore website, images of dried specimens included Glenea algebraica but did not show any specimen of Glenea taeniata. It will be referred to as Glenea algebraica until further information is available.
In November 2013, 5 of these beetles were observed on a young Sea Hibiscus (Hibiscus tiliaceus), with 4 on a single leaf. They appeared to be feeding on its leaves, indicating that this might be the host plant.
